JUST WHO ARE THE TRIP CHICKS ?
Call 770 - 454 - 7205
For veteran 23-year certified Atlanta travel consultants Wendy Swartzell and Ann Lombardi (a.k.a. The Trip Chicks) of Passport to Adventure Inc., travel is the best education and laughter makes the world go round. The zany travel experts and fitness buffs regularly serve up their savvy sometimes unorthodox travel advice to clients, along with the duo's trademark trips: Passport to Adventure's "home-base town with day excursions" international getaways, and customized group active vacations.
Wendy and Ann admit there are not many travel consultants who'd want to brag about finishing dead last in the Berlin Marathon, running into Scandinavians swimming in the buff in a volcanic Icelandic thermal crack, accidentally wandering into a drug raid in Old San Juan, tracking howler monkeys with biologists in the jungles of Belize, getting tear-gassed in curlers outside a Seoul Korea beauty salon, or hitching a ride in heels with an Amish Pennsylvania Dutch family in a horse and buggy, to name but a few of their colorful adventures.
"To say we have a unique perspective on traveling the world is but the tip of the iceberg," smiles Lombardi, a former teacher in Europe and Korea. She and Wendy have worked for the airlines so they know both sides of the travel industry well. "Our clients appreciate not only our travel expertise, but also our sense of humor, our special brand of travel serendipity, and our mission to encourage people to seek out memorable, even life-changing vacations," says Swartzell. One of their favorite active vacation trips is their annual May bike and barge group adventure to tulip-time Holland.
The Trip Chicks travel stories have appeared in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Risks of Sunbathing Topless (Seal Press,) Columbia County Magazine, The Thong Also Rises (Travelers' Tales), Travel Post Monthly, Cultural Exploring Magazine, and on numerous online websites including RickSteves.com, BootsnAll.com, and AmericanChronicle.com. They have been quoted in the Washington Post and Travel Weekly Magazine. In addition, the duo is writing their first book, which will reveal their closely-guarded insider travel secrets.
Wendy and Ann hosted "The Trip Chicks Travel Show" on a FOX radio station in Washington D.C., and currently host "Escapes" each Monday on 1620 AM Radio Sandy Springs. They served as occasional fill-in travel talk co-hosts for AM 750 WSB's Clark Howard "Friday Flyer Show" until he became nationally syndicated. In addition, the seasoned travel agents have been heard on National Public Radio, CNN Travel News, "FOX Good Day Atlanta," and Atlanta's WGST. Passport to Adventure Inc. is recommended in the Dummies guidebooks and on numerous European tourist office websites.
"Too many places and too little time" is the mantra of the energetic team. "Travel is one of our most important freedoms," according to Swartzell. "Our goals are to instill a passion for travel in our clients and to plan memorable vacations which are excellent values. We hope to touch hearts and perhaps stretch some minds and muscles along the way too." In a country with the world's highest percentage of unused vacation time, The Trip Chicks urge their fellow Americans to use their hard-earned time off. "Just get out there and travel," they exclaim. "Take in the amazing world we are fortunate to share. Life is way too short, and you deserve a real escape."
